PLUG PLUG RELEASES NEW ALBUM: HUMANICOMIO TERRÁQUEO

The post hardcore, math and post rock band with Peruvian roots returns after 6 years, with their fifth production, where they shows sounds from all their eras and more. Mixed and mastered in California, by the same studio where Los Huaycos recorded for Netflix, it will hit Spotify and digital platforms on Friday, May 29.

Plug Plug emerged at a time of renewal of the peruvian alternative music scene being the gateway to rock peruano for a new generation of fans of indie music. The love for music that motivates artists without commercial pretensions, left its seeds and gives life to Plug Plug.

Garzo, guitarist, composer and gritante (a singer that also screams), left to live in California 10 years ago, but that never stopped them. For those who follow local alternative rock, the Plug Plug concerts are part of the rituals of the middle and end of the year, or whenever Garzo is brought to Lima.

After 6 years of record silence, Plug Plug releases its fifth production: Humanicomio Terráqueo. This album tells us about the madness at the advent of the pandemic, about the feeling, the indignation, the love, the couple and the loved ones that left us.

Musically, it brings us all the sounds by which Plug Plug earned a place in the audience that listens to them, their friends, never fans. The energy of punk, the complexity of math, shoegaze and post hardcore, the textures of post punk, hardcore, underground rock and the music of Peru, a direct heritage of the well-remembered musicologist Chalena Vásquez (mother of Kamilo, the bassist), to whom the song “Forever” is dedicated.

It was composed remotely and recorded at various locations. The batteries were captured by Ignacio Briceño in Dragón Verde, a studio dedicated to analog processes and architectural detail. The bass was recorded in Buru Estudio, by music producer Antonio Olivera, who is also the band’s drummer. The guitars were brought to life in Mundano Estudios, by Saito Chinen, like all their previous albums, ensuring the characteristic Plug Plug sound.

Garzo recorded the voices at different locations around the world while traveling, and also at Estudio Huaycal in Oakland, California. Finally, it was mixed and mastered by Jack Shirley, from The Atomic Garden, whom Garzo met when recording with Los Huaycos for Netflix's 13 Reasons Why series, and since then has contributed to the final touches of all his bands from California and Peru.

Humanicomio Terráqueo already has three singles on Spotify with video clips on Facebook and YouTube: “En Vano” directed and produced by Alonso García and Gustavo de la Torre, Pasaje 18, starring the public at the band’s shows at the iconic Hensley skater bar, and at the Rango Fest 2019. “Sentido”, the animation video made by Garzo, with the participation of Mark Reátegui, who tells a delirious story in digital surreal landscapes. And “A donde sea” which was already filmed in quarantine with the green screen plugiano and background system of the images of the tour of the group in 2018 in Tacna, Trujillo and Arequipa.

Humanicomio Terráqueo, will be available on Spotify, iTunes and other digital platforms from Friday, May 29, thanks to Altafonte.

Plug Plug lanza nuevo disco: Humanicomio Terráqueo.



La banda de Garzo, Antonio Olivera y Kamilo Riveros, luego de 6 años, con un disco con todos sus sonidos y más. Mezclado y masterizado en California, por el mismo estudio donde Los Huaycos grabó para Netflix, llegará a Spotify y plataformas digitales el viernes 29 de mayo.

Plug Plug surgió en un momento de renovación de la escena musical alternativa que fue la puerta de entrada hacia el rock peruano para una generación de la música independiente. El amor hacia la música que motiva a los artistas sin pretensiones comerciales, dejó semillas y le da vida a Plug Plug.

Garzo partió a vivir a California hace ya 10 años, pero eso jamás les detuvo. Para quienes siguen al rock alternativo, los conciertos de Plug Plug son parte de los rituales de mediados y fin de año, o cada vez que se puede traer al compositor, guitarrista y gritante. 


Luego de 6 años de silencio discográfico. Plug Plug lanza su quinta producción: Humanicomio Terráqueo. Donde nos habla de la locura en el advenimiento de la pandemia, del sentir, de la indignación, el amor, a la pareja y a los seres queridos que nos dejaron. 


Musicalmente nos trae todos los sonidos por los que Plug Plug se ganó un lugar en el público que los escucha, sus amigos, nunca fans. La energía del punk, la complejidad del math, shoegaze y post hardcore, las texturas del post punk, el hardcore, el rock subterráneo y las músicas del Perú, herencia directa de la recordada musicóloga Chalena Vásquez, madre del bajista, a quien se dedica la canción “Para siempre”. 

Se compuso a distancia y se grabó en diversas locaciones. Las baterías fueron capturadas por Ignacio Briceño en Dragón Verde, estudio  dedicado a los procesos analógicos y el detalle arquitectónico. Los bajos en Buru Estudio, del productor musical Antonio Olivera, quien es el baterista de la banda. Las guitarras en Mundano Estudios, por Saito Chinen, al igual que los anteriores discos, asegurando el sonido característico de Plug Plug.


Garzo grabó las voces en locaciones por viajes en diversos lugares del mundo y el Estudio Huaycal en Oakland, California. Para finalmente mezclar y masterizar con Jack Shirley, de The Atomic Garden,  a quien conoció al  grabar con Los Huaycos para la serie 13 Reasons Why de Netflix y desde entonces ha aportado a los acabados internacionales de todas sus bandas de California y Perú.


Humanicomio Terráqueo cuenta ya con tres singles en Spotify con videoclips en Facebook y Youtube: “En Vano” realizado por Alonso García y Gustavo de la Torre, Pasaje 18,  protagonizado por el público en los conciertos de Hensley y el Rango Fest 2019. “Sentido” video de animación realizado por Garzo, con participación de Mark Reátegui, que cuenta una delirante historia en paisajes surrealistas digitales. Y “A donde sea” la cual fue filmada ya en cuarentena con el sistema plugiano de pantalla verde y fondo de las imágenes de la gira de la agrupación el 2018 en Tacna, Trujillo y Arequipa.
